Approach

When I was a child I wanted to be a teacher. Naturopathic Medicine felt so much like home for me because one of its core principles, Docere (“Doctor as Teacher”), gave me permission to be a teacher first in a clinical setting. When you come to see me with your health question, concern, worry or fear, or even for a routine check-up, I view my primary role as teaching you what I know in a gentle and accessible way to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to take the next step on your health journey. In other words, my work is to help you feel empowered and 100% supported so that we can work to improve your health together. My focus is women’s health, cardiovascular care, digestive wellness, cancer support, and overall lifestyle shifts. My favorite medical tools include clinical and laboratory testing, nutrition and lifestyle counseling, nutrient therapy, botanical medicine, mind body medicine techniques and appropriate referrals for additional services to develop a sustainable health plan in line with all your health goals. I truly look forward to guiding you on your health journey!

Background

Born and raised in Jamaica, with living and research experience in Ethiopia and Tanzania, I have been exposed to a diverse range of cultural approaches to health around the world. I honed in on this interest by studying International Public Health at Stanford University and later attended medical school at the University of the West Indies (UWI) in Jamaica. After just one year at UWI and two yoga teacher training courses, it became clear to me that a holistic approach to medicine was the only way to foster true healing. In an attempt to expand my knowledge and experience of this approach to medicine I left UWI and found my new home at Bastyr University in Seattle, WA to study Naturopathic Medicine. I earned my Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine in 2018 and moved back home to practice alongside my mentor at an Integrative Medical Clinic in Kingston, Jamaica before moving to Oregon to join the SVM team. My clinical interests include all aspects of primary care and preventive medicine, with a particular passion for women’s health, cardiovascular disease, digestive health, cancer support, counseling and stress management.
