Bring the benefits of HBOT home
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy uses increased atmospheric pressure to help the body absorb more oxygen. While HBOT is traditionally offered in clinical settings, having a chamber at home allows eligible patients to incorporate treatments into their own routine.*
*Medical referral required. SVM does not currently offer in-office HBOT treatments. We offer chamber rental through our practice, or can help you explore rental and purchase options through our partner, 123HBOT.
What Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)?

HBOT involves relaxing inside a pressurized chamber while breathing air under increased atmospheric pressure. That increased pressure allows the body to absorb more oxygen than it would under normal atmospheric conditions.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has established medical uses for certain conditions, including selected problem wounds, diabetic foot ulcers, acute thermal burns, and certain serious infections. Researchers are also investigating potential applications in areas such as traumatic brain injury and neurological health.
Mild hyperbaric chambers, such as the Summit-to-Sea chambers offered through our partner 123HBOT, operate at approximately 1.3 ATA (“athmospheric absolute”, or approximately 30% greater than normal atmospheric pressure.) These soft-sided chambers are designed for home use and are available in several sizes and configurations.
Why Consider HBOT?
HBOT is used medically for certain conditions where increasing oxygen availability to tissues can support healing. Some people also explore mild HBOT as a complementary therapy under the guidance of their healthcare provider.
Potential areas of interest may include:
- Supporting tissue healing
- Recovery following certain injuries or procedures
- Supporting areas of reduced oxygenation
- Complementary support for certain neurological or inflammatory conditions
HBOT is not appropriate for everyone, and the evidence varies depending on the condition and type of hyperbaric therapy. Talk with your healthcare provider about whether it would be right for you.
READY TO EXPLORE HBOT?
OPTION 1
RENT OUR CHAMBER
Our chamber may be available for home rental.
If you’re interested in trying HBOT at home, start by contacting us. Availability is limited because we only have one unit.
OPTION 2
RENT OR BUY THROUGH 123HBOT
We can help you explore another option when our chamber is not available.
Through our relationship with 123HBOT, you can explore additional chamber models available for rental or purchase. Their current rental options include 26″ shallow-dive and 33″ dive chambers.
OPTION 3
TALK WITH DR. D FIRST
Not sure which option to choose?
Dr. D offers a 15-minute consultation for patients that are not members that are interested in renting or purchasing an HBOT chamber. This gives you an opportunity to discuss your health history, goals, and whether home HBOT may be appropriate for you.
A medical referral is required.
Not sure whether home HBOT is right for you?
Renting can be a way to experience having a chamber at home before making a larger investment. You can also speak with Dr. Duncan beforehand to discuss your individual situation and determine whether HBOT is an appropriate option.
If you decide within the first month that you would like to keep your chamber, 123HBOT currently applies certain rental-related costs toward the purchase price.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a prescription?
Yes. SVM and 123HBOT currently require a valid prescription for both chamber rentals and purchases.
How much space do I need?
It depends on the model. Horizontal chambers are approximately 7–8.5 feet long, while vertical models require less floor space but approximately 7 feet of ceiling height. We recommend approximately 9 feet by 6 feet of space for a typical horizontal chamber.
How much do HBOT chambers cost?
New Summit-to-Sea chambers currently range from approximately $7,995 to $21,995, depending on the model. Rental options currently start at $1,500 per month. Shipping, taxes, deposits, and other fees may apply.
How long is a typical session?
Many home HBOT sessions are approximately 45–60 minutes, although your healthcare provider can help determine an appropriate protocol for your individual circumstances.
Is HBOT appropriate for everyone?
No. HBOT may not be appropriate for everyone, and certain medical conditions or circumstances may require additional evaluation. Talk with a qualified healthcare provider before beginning treatment.
Where can I learn more about the chambers?
You can explore the available Summit-to-Sea models, current pricing, rental options, and specifications through our HBOT partner, 123HBOT.

A Note About HBOT
HBOT is an evolving area of medicine, and research continues into its potential applications. The information on this page is provided for educational purposes and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
The FDA-cleared intended use for mild hyperbaric chambers is treatment of acute mountain sickness (AMS) and associated mild symptoms. Other uses discussed in the broader HBOT literature may not be FDA-cleared indications for these devices.
Always discuss HBOT with your healthcare provider before beginning treatment.
