Transforming U.S. Healthcare: How New Laws Are Expanding Access to Direct Primary Care
Big changes are on the horizon for Direct Primary Care. In Oregon, HB 2540 – starting January 1, 202…
Yes — membership is required for all primary care appointments. The only exceptions are:
Being a member comes with many benefits, including discounts on products and services offered through our practice — plus the peace of mind of having direct, relationship-based care whenever you need it. If you would like to join, you can become a member here.
Membership at Siskiyou Vital Medicine is not health insurance. It is designed to cover your primary care needs and work alongside other healthcare options.
For larger or unexpected medical expenses, many patients choose to pair their membership with either a high deductible health plan (HDHP) or a medical cost sharing program. These options help cover hospitalizations, surgeries, or specialized care, while your membership provides direct, personalized access to your physician for everyday health needs.
Many patients find that this combination offers a more flexible and cost-effective approach to managing their healthcare. As healthcare continues to evolve, new legislation is also making Direct Primary Care more accessible, giving patients more freedom in how they structure their care.
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a retainer medical practice. It is not health insurance.
As such, Siskiyou Vital Medicine (SVM) may not bill insurance or Medicare/Medicaid programs. SVM members are also not allowed to submit claims to their insurance for any service(s) included in the membership. Services outside of those that are part of the membership and covered by your insurance may be reimbursable. Consult with your insurance company for details.
Regardless of what your goals may be, the illness and symptoms you suffer from – functional medicine can very likely help you have more freedom in your life, to live the way you desire.
Integrative medicine looks for the root cause of illness and removes it – which is different from allopathic medicine. Medicines used by functional care are based in nature – minerals, vitamins, herbal treatments – and have less side effects than the chemical compounds allopathic medicine is using. All three aspects of life – body, mind and spirit – are addressed in functional medicine, and it complements well with allopathic medicine.
Naturopathic doctors here in Oregon are able to write, refill and modify your prescriptions just as allopathic doctors are.
Direct Primary Care covers your everyday healthcare needs. For larger, unexpected costs like hospitalizations or surgeries, many patients choose to pair their membership with a high deductible insurance or a medical cost sharing program. This combination offers a more complete and often more affordable approach to healthcare.
Naturopathic doctors are medical providers who have completed four years of doctorate level training in naturopathic medicine. This training not only includes the basic sciences and clinical systems including minor office procedures, but also training in nutrition, herbal medicine, nature cure, homeopathy and joint manipulation. The naturopathic physicians here at Siskiyou Vital Medicine view the body and illness through the lens of vitalism where the body’s natural healing ability is supported and optimized.
Appointments generally take between 30 – 60 minutes. The length of the appointment depends entirely upon our individual patient needs. We prefer to get to know our patients in a relaxed setting and address all their questions and needs.
Yes, Siskiyou Vital Medicine accepts HSA (Health Saving Accounts) and FSA (Flexible Spending Accounts) for treatments at the clinic.
