Anytime is a good time for this favorite comfort food! French Toast is a great way to start your day or host a Sunday brunch. Topped with banana slices or fresh fruit compote, and drizzled with maple syrup, there is not much that can outshine this delightful treat!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup whole raw milk
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast flakes (optional)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of ground nutmeg
- 5 slices of your favorite bread
Variations: Replace the cow’s milk with oat or almond milk if you like this to be vegan. Use a more healthful organic sourdough bread with added grains and seeds.
Directions
- Whirl the milk, banana, yeast flakes, vanilla and nutmeg in a blender until smooth
- Dip both sides of the bread in the mixture
- Cook on a greased preheated griddle or skillet until golden brown on both sides.
- For the fruit compote, add your favorite berries to a cooking pot with a little water and heat up until almost boil.
- Top French Toast with the compote, banana slices and maple syrup and serve.
If you desire a bit more sweetness, add some monk fruit to either the batter or the fruit compote.
